Sr. Joel M. Allen II, Biography
My name is Sr. Joel M. Allen II, I am the proud owner of J. Allen Enterprises.
When I was a child growing up with a single parent, I attended Saint Rose of Lima Elementary School. At a young age I started realizing I was different. In school we would have countless spelling bees and endless pages of math problems. Yet every time I would seem to fail which eventually made me get left back. Through it all I persisted and eventually graduated. After graduating from Saint Rose of Lima Elementary School in Philadelphia. My mother moved me out to Ardmore, Pennsylvania to live with my uncle. She felt like because of the rise of gang wars that I would be better off with my uncle in the suburbs.
Attending Lower Merion High School because of my age instead of going to the 9th grade they skipped to the 10th. While living with my uncle I started to gain a new self-confidence. He was so into things like science, history, racing cars, and trains that it made me believe that I could do anything that I set my mind to. Besides my uncle, my grandmother, grandfather, and mother being a big influence in my life, I had other family members that were to.
My grandmother was into plants, painting, decorating the backyard.
My grandfather was a chef. My aunt was a nurse and my mother was very good at multitasking. Yet lastly my cousin was a dancer and attended dancing school. So from that moment on my drive and passion for business and doing something positive was ignited. At the time I was in the 10th grade attending Lower Merion High School. For most of my life I have always struggled with a learning disability that has restricted me from being my best at reading.
Though I had this struggle. I continued to press on knowing that anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself . That led me in 1978 to start my first business Allen Printing, Publishing, and Computer. Knowing that I could accomplish it all it led me to write my first book entitled ‘In Black Print”. In the book I wrote a list of all the black achievements throughout history. After writing my first book it seemed like everything started to fall into place.
Years later my dream of J. Allen Enterprises and our subsitory
Allen Printing/Publishing & Computers /Allen & Allen Motor Speedway Racing, Allen & Allen Model Railroading, Selena’s Landscape, Design & Tree Service and The Home Chef .
